Illness Guidelines
The nurse assists in efforts to prevent and control communicable diseases in collaboration with the Vermont Department of Health, physicians and parents. Parents are asked to notify the school nurse directly if their child has any of the following:Â
chickenpox,
impetigo,
lice,
measles,
mononucleosis,
mumps,
pertussis (whooping cough),
pink eye,
ringworm,
Strep throat,
or any other communicable disease that causes students to miss school.
The above diseases and conditions are contagious, and a break from school will be necessary until appropriate treatment is received. Students who are obviously ill or have a fever should not be sent to school, and students should be free of fever for a full 24 hours before returning to school.
