Attendance

Attendance is a key factor to student success. Being tardy or missing school is detrimental to learning. Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence. Here are just a few of the struggles a student faces when he/she misses school:

  • missed academic content for the day missed

  • trouble learning content on following days because of missing prior information that builds into the new information

  • missed assignments for the day missed

  • difficulty completing following assignments due to time spent completing missed assignments

  • difficulty completing following assignments due to missing or incomplete knowledge and information

  • missed information outside of class, such as due dates, upcoming events, etc.

We want students to be here. We want students to feel welcomed and to be a part of our CCHS community. Being absent makes building relationships and staying involved more difficult.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding CCHS student attendance.
