C.C.S. Backpack Program

The C.C.S. Backpack Program was created in developed in Fall of 2011 by the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) from a $500 grant that was awarded by Prat Northam Foundation. With that grant they mailed letters to local businesses asking for money and food donations. Over the years the program has been run by many different groups. It is currently being overseen by Mrs. Grandjean, Food Service Manager and the backpacks are being packed and delivered by Student Council. The program is currently serving 14 families; 27 students.

The backpack program is a program that helps struggling families make their food stretch farther during the month. Every Friday, backpacks are filled with nutritious foods that the participating students take home to their families in an indistinct backpack. The backpacks are filled with nutritious non-perishable foods (we do use fresh when available). These backpacks are then returned on Monday and filled again the following Friday. All families qualify for the program. We only ask that you fill out a Free/Reduced Lunch application to see if you qualify. You do not need to qualify for Free or Reduced to participate.

If you are interested in this program. Please feel free to fill out an application at any time during the year. You do not need to qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch Status in order to participate in the program.

The Backpack Program is always accepting donations. Whether it being cash, check, or food donations. Food donation bins can be found by the front door of the building and in the lower foyer by Gym B. The program always accepts any non-perishable, unexpired foods. Such as:

  • Peanut Butter

  • Canned Vegetables

  • Canned Fruit

  • Rice

  • Canned Soups

  • Canned Entree's (Spaghetti-O's, Ravioli, etc.)

  • Tuna fish, Canned Chicken

  • Macaroni and Cheese

  • Snack Items

  • Bagged Entree's (Rice-A-Roni, Pasta Sides, etc.)

  • Etc.

If you are writing a check, all checks can be made out to CCS Backpack Program.
