The Mechanical Minds volunteered their time and effort to assist with the 4/9/26 FIRST North Carolina District Championship Field Set-Up. Our team helped prepare pit areas, assemble the competition field, and organize other essential event spaces to ensure the venue was ready for teams and spectators. Through this service, we demonstrated teamwork, responsibility, and our commitment to supporting the success of the FIRST community.
The Mechanical Minds proudly hosted and organized Sumo Fest 2026, an exciting outreach event designed to introduce younger students and community members to the world of robotics through fun, hands-on competition. Our team members took on leadership roles in planning, running activities, and mentoring participants, creating an engaging and welcoming environment for everyone involved. Through this event, we demonstrated our dedication to inspiring the next generation of innovators and expanding STEM education within our community.

The Mechanical Minds proudly hosted, organized, and judged the CCS Winter Robotics Competition, providing a well-run and welcoming event for teams across the district. Our members demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and a strong commitment to supporting robotics education within our community.
We were invited to show FIRST and its benefits to teachers from seventeen North Carolina county school systems, in hopes of gaining more FIRST NC teams.

Several of our team members volunteered to help mentor and coach local elementary schools' LEGO Robotics Teams.
Our team helped with 6-8 week classes hosted at local libraries after school once a week for grades 2nd-4th.

Our team partnered with Catawba County Schools and served in multiple roles at the SUMO FEST 2025 Competition at the Hickory Metro Convention Center.
Our team served as judges for the second and third-grade robotics competition at Balls Creek Elementary School.
The Catawba Science Center asked our team to set up a STEM booth before the Discovery Family Concert: Robots, Machines, and Music at PE Monroe Auditorium on the Lenoir-Rhyne University campus.
Our team created 100 STEM bags filled with items needed for the Sphero component of the competition. We served as judges for the CCS Winter Robotics Competition at the Hickory Convention Center and shared our Crescendo robot with the students and coaches in attendance.
