During the first week of January we get our competition game revealed and then we have eight weeks to plan, build, and perfect our strategy. Last year's competition theme was Charged Up. The game involved picking up cones and cubes and placing them on different levels. The cones had to be placed on poles and the cubes on platforms. There were three different levels to place; the higher the level the more points were scored. A piece on the bottom row scores two points, a piece on the middle row scores three points, and the top row scores five points. If three game pieces are placed in a horizontal row five extra points are awarded. There was also this section of the game where we had to balance on a board called the charge station and extra points were awarded for that.
