Description: This course follows the New York State Science Learning Standards for Earth and Space Sciences. Emphasis in this course will be placed on an investigative approach. A major portion of the course is spent on laboratory activities. Students must complete 1200 minutes of laboratory investigations, including mandatory state lab investigations as guided by NYSED, to be eligible to take the Regents exam. All students enrolled in this course are required to take the Earth and Space Sciences Regents Examination. This class meets 7.5 periods per week.

Description: This course follows the New York State Science Learning Standards in Life Science: Biology. It involves the study of living things from the molecular level to communities and biomes. Special attention is also given to the areas of biochemistry, ecology, and reproduction and development. Students must complete 1200 minutes of laboratory investigations, including mandatory state lab investigations as guided by NYSED, to be eligible to take the Regents exam. All students enrolled in this course are required to take the Life Science: Biology Regents Examination. This class meets 7.5 periods per week.

Prerequisites: Enrollment in 8th grade Accelerated Earth and Space Sciences; a 90 test average each marking period; and a 90 or higher on the Earth and Space Sciences Regents Exam. Each marking period, students who are enrolled in Earth and Space Sciences must have a test average of 90 or higher in Earth Science and in Algebra, miss no more than two assignments each marking period and score a 90 or higher on the Earth and Space Sciences Regents Exam.
Description: This course offers an in-depth survey of college preparatory material for students who have demonstrated ability in science through a high performance in middle school science. The course is designed for those students who plan to pursue AP science courses. Students must complete 1200 minutes of laboratory investigations, including mandatory state lab investigations as guided by NYSED, to be eligible to take the Life Science: Biology Regents Examination. Description: This course is adapted to provide for student needs and accommodations as specified in an Individual Education Plan (IEP). This course follows the New York State Science Learning Standards in Life Science: Biology. It involves the study of living things from the molecular level to communities and biomes. This is the first year of a two-year Life Science: Biology course. This course involves the study of science skills, living vs. non-living things, ecology, cells, and genetics. Students will take the Life Science: Biology Regents exam at the end of Life Science: Biology 2G. The class will meet 5 periods per week.
Lab Requirement: 1200 minutes of lab time including mandatory state lab investigations (with 2G)

Students must complete 1200 minutes of laboratory investigations, including state-mandated investigations as guided by NYSED, to be eligible to take the Regents examination in Life Science: Biology at the end of this course. These labs may be conducted in both Life Science: Biology 1G and 2G. This class meets 7.5 periods per week.

Students must complete 1200 minutes of laboratory investigations, including state-mandated investigations as guided by NYSED, to be eligible to take the Regents examination in Chemistry. Laboratory work to illustrate and support these concepts is carried out individually or in small groups. The course is designed for those who hope to make a branch of science a career and may be taken by other students whose interests and abilities in science are high. All students enrolled in this course are required to take the Chemistry Regents Examination. This class meets 7.5 periods per week.

Laboratory work to illustrate and support physics concepts is carried out individually or in small groups. Course topics will be studied in greater depth and additional topics will be added to the students’ work load. Students must complete 1200 minutes of laboratory investigations, including state-mandated investigations as guided by NYSED, to be eligible to take the Regents exam. All students completing the course are required to take the Regents examination in Physics. Students will work on college-level problems, and will perform inquiry-based laboratory experiments. Students must complete 1200 minutes of laboratory investigations, including state-mandated investigations as guided by NYSED, to be eligible to take the Regents exam in Physics. Students will be prepared to study AP Physics 1 or AP Physics C during the subsequent school year. This class meets 7.5 periods per week.
