What is a Quadrilateral?

• A quadrilateral is a shape with four sides.

  • Quad = four, lateral = side

• Examples: square, rhombus, parallelogram

• All quadrilaterals are:

  • Closed (sides join up)

  • Flat (2D)

  • Straight lines

Regular vs. Irregular Quadrilaterals

• Regular: Has at least one pair of parallel sides

• Irregular: Has no parallel sides
