Look at the image at the very top and read the Introduction, or press the “Audio” button so the app reads it out loud. You will need your Merge Cube for all of the activities in this topic card. Read the description, then press the “Play” button to interact with the Wave-o-Rama machine! Here, you will use a wave machine to generate different types of waves. You can use the sliders at the bottom to control the shape of the waves by changing the amplitude, wavelength, and frequency of the waves. What happens when you increase the amplitude of the wave? What happens when you increase the wavelength? What happens when you increase the frequency?

Now, read the description for Activity Two, with the unusual title of “--.- -.- . .. - -... . . .--.” (this translates into “Make it Beep!” in Morse Code). In this activity, you will get to use Morse Code to transmit information. What is easy about using Morse Code? What is difficult about using Morse Code? How is the information actually passed? How is this similar to using a telephone?

Now, go to “Makin’ Sounds” in Activity Three and read the description. Press the “Play” button to start the activity, where you will use vibrating objects to make sound. Press the button at the bottom to shoot the sound cannon at different objects in the room. Which objects produce a loud sound? Which objects produce a softer sound? Which objects surprise you with the sound that they make
