After the great season in 2022, the 2023 Girls Varsity Tennis season was even better. The girls on this team showed character, perseverance, and determination as they always fought for the last ball. Led by captain Kiki Ottenheimer, the 2023 Girls Varsity tennis had a very successful season.

Ever since tryouts started in August, this team knew that they were capable of having success. Despite the early practice times and brutally hot conditions, the girls kept pushing themselves to be the best that they could be.  This team had passion and it was always seen but the first time that it was clearly seen was in the match that they played against one of their rivals, the Nyack Redhawks. The Rams blew out the Redhawks, who have had a very successful program in recent years, by a score of 7-0.

At the beginning of the season, Coach Schwartz selected Kiki Ottenheimer (Jr.) to be the captain of the varsity tennis team. She showed dedication at tryouts and she was passionate about the game. Everyone on the team wanted her as captain as they all knew she would be the best fit for the job. Captain Ottenheimer showed great leadership on the court as she went undefeated during the season. She played 9 matches and she won all of them. Some were tough but she came out with the win in every one of them.  She also showed great leadership off of the courts as she motivated everyone to do their best.

The singles players won 74 percent of their matches and the doubles players won 67 percent of their matches.  Junior Captain Kiki Ottenehimer says “I am incredibly proud of how our team as a whole performed this year and I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish next season.” Clarkstown North students: stay tuned for next fall because this tennis team has big things in store.
