Both New York Major League Baseball teams have put together excellent seasons. The Mets (based in Queens) and the Yankees (based in Bronx) have succeeded in uniting and entertaining their fan bases.

The Yankees clinched a playoff berth after their 99-63 season, claiming 1st place in the American League East. With a 61.1% win percentage, they stormed all the way into the American League Championship Series against the red-hot Houston Astros. The Yankees’ season has been phenomenal, mostly because of one man: Aaron Judge. With the 2nd highest batting percentage in the AL (0.311), breaking the AL record for home runs (62), 131 RBIs (runs batted in), and a 0.425 on-base percentage, Judge carried the Yankees to their high standing. Though Judge's team did help, prime examples being their aces Gerrit Cole and Nestor Cortez. Unfortunately, the Yankees lost in the ALCS to the Astros, but the 2022 season will be one that New Yorkers will never forget.

The Mets also performed excellently this season, though they lost in the Wild Card Round of the 2022 MLB Playoffs. Finishing with 101 wins, they actually had a better record than the Yankees. However, the Mets finished 2nd in the NL East, as the Braves managed to overtake them in their final series against each other during the regular season. Of course, there were still many moments where the Mets shined. Lindor and Alonzo both had over 100 RBIs, while pitcher Jacob DeGrom showed glimpses of his old self. Along with Diaz being arguably the best closer in all of baseball, the Mets put together a decent lineup. However, they fell short to the Braves, and then lost to the Padres, falling apart at the final leg of the season.

Now, the question is, which team is better? They went 2-2 against each other this season, and both teams are potentially on the cusps of losing extremely vital players: Aaron Judge and Jacob DeGrom. In the end, both teams played extremely well, putting them in a spot to win a World Series sooner than later. The next season will definitely be one dominated by New York.
