After a very successful season, the boys hockey team faces challenges with several key seniors leaving. However, with talented athletes and new players, the team is ready to continue their success.

2022-23 Season Review

Last season, Clarkstown showcased their talent, coming out as the champions of Section 1. Without their determination and devotion to the game of hockey, these players could not have achieved such an accomplishment. The section finals for Clarkstown was a nail biter, as they defeated the Suffern Mounties by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, Clarkstown experienced a bitter end to their season, falling to the very same Suffern Mounties 2-1 in the state semifinals. On a positive note, select players recorded impressive statistics over the course of the season, such as Sam Sobler, a senior at North. Sam earned 4 goals and 33 assists on the season, combining for an astonishing 37 points.

What has changed since last season?

While Clarkstown did lose some valuable players, many individuals have the opportunity this season to reach their highest potential. Players like Sam Sobler, AJ Levy, Chase Chalfin, and Jason Gusler can perform on high levels this coming season. Of course, two of Clarkstown’s stars, Nick Romeo and Andrew Fenninger, have moved on from this glorious team, and have chosen to take their hockey skills to the next level in the NAHL and NCAA. Nick currently plays for the NAHL Dubuque Fighting Saints, located in Dubuque, Iowa, after being traded from the Maine Nordiques. Nick was the leading scorer for Maine, and is now embarking on a new journey in Dubuque. Andrew is playing for the hockey team of Saint Thomas Aquinas College. Both of these players have bright futures ahead of them.

Thoughts on the Upcoming Year

This year, fans should expect an exciting and lively environment at many games this season. This fast paced and energetic game has a tendency to initiate excitement amongst both fans and players. Clarkstown’s talent last year was unimaginative, and this year, fans should expect the same. Goaltender AJ Levy is projected to take enormous strides towards improving his skills. Fans can expect big achievements from him as we look forward to the initial puck drop to start the season.

A Renewed Rivalry: Competition for the Upcoming Year

When looking at the skilled teams for which Clarkstown must watch out for, one team comes to mind: Suffern Mounties. These two teams have been rivals for years, and it is speculated that these two teams will have everlasting bad blood. These two teams split their matchups almost equally, but last year Suffern won the game that mattered most, propelling them to the state finals. This year, it is Clarkstown’s turn to have the last laugh. Fans are sure that they will this season.

Looking Ahead to the 2023 Season

The players are pumped to rock their barn, the Palisades Center Ice Rink, located in the Palisades Mall. Clarkstown’s games are filled with energy, since there is always a play in action.  At the Palisades Ice Rink, fans have the opportunity to sit close to the action and watch their team dominate. The season starts soon, and the countdown in days to the first puck drop can officially begin. Come to their first home game against Monroe-Woodbury on November 29th at 6:15 PM. Go Clarkstown!
