The Boys Varsity Basketball Team never fails to impress. Year after year, Coach Amparo and the “fellas” create memories, highlights, and headlines that our students will cherish forever. LOHUD is going to have to make some room for these boys this winter…

The Boys Basketball Team is ready to take on any obstacle they face this winter. Last winter, they created some great memories. On Senior Night, North faced Ramapo in a Friday night battle on McGrath Court. They took the win in front of a packed student section by a score of 70-48. Later on in the season, they pulled off a historic upset over the Horace Greeley Quakers in the first round of the Section 1 playoffs. The Rams won 69-67. Jordan Meyers had 23 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds while Chris Merilus had 17 points and 4 rebounds. Chris Kirkland added 14 points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds. The Rams were down by 11 in the first half and were able to pull off the memorable comeback.

The squad unfortunately lost nine seniors last year. Two of these seniors are now playing hoops at the college level. Chris Kirkland committed to SUNY Cayuga and Chris Merilus committed to SUNY Morrisville. Good luck in the classroom and on the court in college.

But now the Rams have their eyes set on the upcoming winter season. The only experienced varsity players, Sophomore Rotimi Esiso, Senior Kaden Miller, and Senior Ethan Frank, hope to guide the young team to many victories. Hopefully with the addition of JV studs Connor Cullen, Jack Kavanagh, Brandon Gelb, Patrick Bankey, and Kyle O’Brien, the team can create another season to remember.

The first home game will be on Tuesday, December 12th against Harrison. Be there and show your North pride. Let’s go Rams.
