On November 17th, 2023 a new movie was added to the iconic Hunger Games franchise. This movie, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, based off of the novel by Suzane Collins, was a prequel to the successful series and details President Snow’s upbringing and his journey to power as he loses himself in the process. The roles of Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray were played by Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler and since its premiere the film has earned 336.6 million dollars worldwide.

Ram’s Horn interviewed students and here is what they said when asked…

What would you rate the film out of 10 and why?

“It was such a good prequel. Especially having known the hunger games series from a young age, it was so interesting to see how they developed Snow’s character. It was also great because Tom Blyth is very good looking.” - Amulya Mandapaka (Class of 2024)

“The movie was definitely an 8. I definitely enjoyed the movie, but the original Hunger Games casting and acting was better.” - Ammar Shaadab (Class of 2025)

The movie is still in theaters and I highly recommend going to see it. I would also recommend watching the original movies or reading the original book series first as it makes for a different view on the movie and a greater understanding of the world of Panem and Snow’s character in the original series.
