The Spirit of North Soars During Spirit Week

By Gianna Maltbie, Around the Horn Staff

Spirit Week made an amazing return this year, giving students and teachers the opportunity to show off their North pride by participating in a weeklong series of school spirited events. From “Purple Reign'' to “Color Wars”, North students came to school decked out in spirited attire, finally able to enjoy the high school experience they deserve after a year of unpredictability and craziness. While it was only the first Spirit Week of the school year, we can expect that the upcoming ones will continue to blow everyone away!

In preparing for Spirit Week, North Student Council members decorated the school’s hallways. By the time they had finished, our ceilings and walls were adorned with posters, balloons, and streamers. The classes even took the time to add a personal touch. The Juniors added a special class photo wall in the annex, while the Seniors wrote out the words “FEELING 22” on Post-It notes and lined the entrance of the X-wing with gold “2022” balloons. It was quite the sight to see Tuesday morning!

On Wednesday, students celebrated “Tie-dye/Paint Day''. Some of the Seniors even went to Zukor Park before the first bell and took part in a “paint war,” splattering each other in a fun and spirited way!

During Thursday’s “Color Wars”, all four grades made sure to dress in their appropriate class color to show off their spirit: Freshmen in red, Sophomores in blue, Juniors in white, and Seniors in black. It was nearly impossible to decide a winner since all of the grades went full-out.

On Friday, students took “Purple Reign'' to the next level. Students came to school decked out in North colors and apparel. The day ended with a sea of people festooned in purple and gold pouring into the stands and the track for the Pep Rally.

The most spirited Ram, senior Amelia Ferrante, made sure to consistently dress her best during Spirit Week. Amelia went all out in painting her clothing, dressing from head-to-toe in purple and gold, and rocking tutus and boas on multiple occasions. Without a doubt, Amelia is the most spirited student Clarkstown North has seen for years!

Spirit Week gave students the opportunity to display their comfiest clothing, represent their favorite sports teams, utilize their artistic creativity, and battle with other grades for the most spirited. Spirit Week remains a great time for the Clarkstown North community to come together and celebrate their love for the school.
