About our class
Our class is a fourth/ fifth grade mixed methodological classroom with a focus on language, academics, social skills, motor skills, sensory processing, executive function and daily living skills. We follow the state standards, with modifications to help each student learn to their potential. Our goal is to provide a positive, caring and supportive environment which promotes success for every student.
About me
I am the 10th of 12 children. My parents made education our priority. I went through the Clarkstown Central School District growing up- here at New City Elementary, Festa and Clarkstown North High School. I played field hockey, basketball and lacrosse growing up and through high school. I then went to college at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, where I played lacrosse. After college, I was pretty unsure of what I wanted to do, so I took a job as a teaching assistant at Prime Time for Kids. This is where I found my passion and went on to earn my Masters in Special Education from City College of NY. After a few years of teaching, I went back to school again for Behavior Analysis at Mercy College. I have maintained my certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) since 2008.
I love painting, yoga, running, reading and traveling. You can find some of my artwork in the main hallway, lower wing hallways, in the gym, in the library and the 4th/ 5th grade hallway. My travels have brought me to 4 of the 7 continents- North America, South America, Europe and Australia. I can't wait to continue my journeys abroad. If you have any favorite countries/ trips- I am all ears! I am currently in the process of becoming a yoga instructor and plan to continue my studies to include teaching children's yoga to help with sensory and attentional difficulties.
