Clothing
Please dress your child appropriately for the weather. We enjoy playing outside and go out when the temperature is above 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sneakers are the best choice for footwear to ensure safe play on the recess equipment.
We like to keep an extra set of clothes in class in case of a spill or bathroom accident. If your child comes home with soiled clothing, please send in a new bag of clothes the next day.
Communication
Your child will bring home their Take-Home Folder every day. Inside you will find important notices, classwork, fliers, etc.. Please review and empty your child’s folder each day.
Please make sure that your child is aware of any important notes that you are placing in their folder and sending back to school. We do not want any notes left at the bottom of the school bag.
If you have any questions or concerns, please send in a note or email the teacher.
Lunch Slips (10:40-11:15 am)
If you child is buying lunch, please fill out a Kindergarten lunch slip and place it in your child’s Take-Home Folder. This will enable us to take an accurate lunch count every morning.
Please review with your child what they will be ordering/eating that day, whether they are buying or bringing from home. This helps with our morning routines and eases any lunchtime anxiety. We appreciate your taking the time to do this throughout the school year.
The District's Elementary School Lunch Menu is available on Strawtown's website. A link to the menu can also be found on the Kindergarten Parent Resources page.
Snack/Water
Please note that we are a peanut and tree nut free classroom.
Snack is collected and placed in Table Bins in the morning. Please make sure your child’s snack is in a SEPARATE labeled bag.
Snack is at 1:45 pm.
Please make sure your child has a thermos filled with water every day. We have a water station in school that is used to refill thermoses as needed.
Star Student/Birthdays
Each child will be assigned a week during the year to be the “Star Student”. During the week, your child will present their poster (you will make this at home), they will have special privileges, and they will bring in their favorite book to share. If a parent or older sibling can come in and read that is wonderful, if not, please send a book in for the teacher to read to the class.
We are not able to celebrate with birthday treats due to District policy.
Transportation
Please remember to notify your child's teacher in writing if there are any changes in the way your child will be going home from school.
Changes in dismissal can also be emailed to the School Office at strawtownoffice@ccsd.edu, kindly include your child's teacher on the email.
We’re looking forward to a wonderful kindergarten year!
💜 We greatly appreciate your support. 💜
