A Place Where Students Learn How to Learn
Achievement Center Course Description
The Achievement Center is a program staffed with two teaching assistants and one supervising teacher. The Achievement Center enrolls students who have been identified in need of Academic Intervention Services in the areas of Math and English/Language Arts. Students are initially scheduled into the Achievement Center based on scores attained on the 7th & 8th grade Math and ELA assessments, Grade 11 Comprehensive English Regents, and Grades 9-11 Math Regents Exams.
Students are assigned daily activities to help with skill-building in both Math and English with their progress tracked on a regular basis. As students grow in their targeted skills in these areas they can transition out of the Achievement Center where the transition is based upon satisfactory skill attainment, earlier grade level NYS Test score of 3 or better in the affected area, teacher recommendation, and the maintenance of report card grades of B- or better.
