Students will strengthen their reading and writing skills as they explore engaging units of study to promote critical thinking. Points of focus will include:

* Vocabulary acquisition (Word Wisdom)

* Development of literal and inferential comprehension

* Critical analysis and response to literature

* Study and application of writing process

* Use of book clubs to inspire in-depth discussion of text
