Finding the Right Summer Program for You
Start your search by asking yourself the following questions:
1. Would I prefer a sleep-away program or a commuter program?
2. When am I available this summer? Many programs run the entire length of July. Some span over one or two weeks. Workshops tend to just last a few days.
3. What are my geographic limitations? Rockland, Westchester, NYC, East Coast, None
4. What are my financial limitations? Does the tuition include room, board, and supplies?
5. Is there financial aid or scholarship money available?
6. What colleges am I considering? Look at those schools first for their summer opportunities.
7. Do I have a portfolio of 8-20 pieces to submit? Many applications require a portfolio, letter of recommendation, and/or essay.
8. What specific courses am I interested in taking?
9. When are the deadlines? Give yourself enough time to collect all of the necessary application materials.
