The 2025 volleyball season went out with a bang. With a record of 9-5, the Lady Cougars Varsity Team was on fire. Let’s hear from some of the players and see what this season meant to them!
Who was your favorite team to play and why?
From senior, Preslyn Munson: My Favorite team to play this year was Alpha Omega. As everyone knows, we’ve had a rivalry with them ever since Junior High. We have never won a game against them until this year. Going into our first game against them, we had high expectations. We were so nervous of beating them, that we let the nerves win and they ultimately won. With this loss, we worked super hard and started to believe that we could beat them. Going into our second game, we kept our determination in our hearts and fought with everything we had. I saw every girl drive to compete and win. I saw all of them give every skill they learned and the strength they had. And most importantly, I saw them give up their revenge for God’s Glory. After this game, we started every game with a phrase and kept it going throughout the season: “God’s Glory on three, not cougars on three”. We knew that this was the only way we could win; through Christ alone. After that game, we felt unstoppable. One of the things that fueled us was our huge fan section. They cheered and drove us to not only play for ourselves, but them and God. We wanted to win fair and square, and that’s just what we did.
How have you felt God used you this season?
From senior, Oliva Gonzalez: This season was a true blessing in disguise. I learned so much about myself and how God is planning to use me. Through the patience I learned on and off the court, I see God’s actions displayed to me. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to play the sport I love and continue to take this trait with me through the rest of my life.
Who was the most influential person you played with this season, and why? What have you learned from that person?
From senior, Ella Munson: Hannah Fowler was the most influential person I played with this season, simply because I was able to have a co-captain. She encouraged me to step into the role of being a captain, and she truly led the team in a way I was new to. She pushed me to perform my best and was an encourager throughout the season. It was great to end my senior year with someone beside me like Hannah, lending me advice and being a leader.
From junior, Madison Gonzalez: Dakota Marek was the most influential person I played with this season because she is such a great leader. She’s very loud on the court and so it’s taught me to be loud as well and take charge in times where the game is undetermined. She’s taught me to simply play the sport I love and how to have fun with it.
