2020-2021
E-mail Correspondence: I check my e-mail and Remind account throughout the day. It is a great way to get instant feedback to your questions or comments, and I encourage you to contact me this way. My e-mail address is awhite@ccschools.k12tn.net. If you cannot communicate through e-mail you may send a short note through your child’s folder, send a Remind message, or call the school at (931) 484-7400 during my planning time.
Due Dates for Assignments: Classroom assignments are generally due in class. Class time is always given to complete assignments. Students will need to finish an assignment at home if it is not completed during the work time given in class. If classwork is not completed, this can result in a consequence.
Progress Reports: Progress reports with grades for each subject will be sent home every four and a half weeks. I send graded work in folders about every two weeks. I will send a Remind message when I send work, as folders will need to be checked and signed, with grades 70 or lower signed as well and returned.
Report Cards: Report cards are issued every nine weeks.
Weekly Folders: Each child has a folder for the class. Each side of the folder is labeled “Return to School” and “Keep at Home”. These folders will be sent home twice a week. They will be sent on Mondays and Thursdays. Please return folders and any “Return to School” papers as quickly as possible.
Absences: When your child is absent, he or she is responsible for making up their work. It will be the responsibility of the child to get with their teacher to get their work and make up as quickly as possible. After three days, the student should have work turned in to be graded and entered into Skyward. If not turned in, this could result in a zero or detention.
Grading Scale:
A 93-100
B 92-85
C 84-75
D 74-70
F 69-0
Tests: Tests will be given in the following subject areas- Social Studies, Science, Math, Reading, Language, and Spelling-as a measure of understanding. Tests will include multiple- choice, fill in the blank, and written essay.
Homework: Homework will be given sparingly this year. It is extremely important that your child know and immediately recognize their multiplication facts. On each weekly newsletter there will be a Weekly Words list, a list of facts to know, and the story for the week. These things on the newsletter will be what students should study and read each night.

Snacks & Celebrations: If you are planning to bring in a snack of any kind, please let me know at least 24 hours before so we can plan for it. Our schedule is very tight, so we need to be able to plan ahead! We also have severe allergies in our classroom so please be mindful when planning to bring in a snack.
Conferences: Parent/ Teacher Conferences are held after school (usually 3:00-6:00 P.M.) twice a year. During each conference, we will discuss your child’s academic performance and social progress. Additional conferences may be scheduled if a need arises. Please feel free to schedule a conference at any time throughout the year if you wish to meet.
REMIND: I use Remind as a way to communicate with families. Please sign up for our class. You will receive a handout with a classroom codes on them. If you prefer us to sign you up, please let us know. This is a free app to use on your Smart Phones, or you can receive as text messages.
