15 November 2019 - Research
What topic did you pick? Why did you choose that topic? How many resources did you need to use? What strategies did you use to find information (what search terms or keywords helped you find information)? What format was your paper/project, and did you create a Bibliography?
12 November 2019 - Digital Portfolio
A digital portfolio allows students to organize and show off their achievements, work, and special projects. It is a professional reference for soft skills like leadership, work ethic, teamwork, and other skills and abilities that they might bring to a career. College recruiters, future employers, and others might be interested in school work, extra-curricular activities, sports, or community service that are highlighted here. It is also a good way to organize and reference Career Education and Work projects as the student progresses through school.
11 December 2018 - CSED Week Reflection
The reason students are taught to code, during Computer Science Education Week, is because there are so many ways that programming is part of our lives now. Almost every tool we take for granted, as we look around, has some kind of computer component running code to help us complete tasks, make our lives easier, or moniter some critical piece of equipment we are using. Almost every career field has software, hardware, and machines that make our work more productive, and allows us to reach new goals that we could not complete without the use of programming. As an educator, there are new digital technologies that emerge faster than we can begin to use them. We are training the students of today for careers that do not even exist yet!

10 December 2018 - Building Personal-Professional Digital Portfolios
Today we used the newest Google Sites interface to help students create Digital Portfolios. Check out the link to the assignment here: https://collegiumtech.blogspot.com/2018/12/digital-portfolios-using-google-sites.html
The primary pages included space for an "About Me" section, Journal, CCS-515 Projects Page, and a Career Education & Work Evidence page. Students can connect directly from their Google Drive, or upload any number of documents, images, or weblinks to other projects and experiences. These sites are held, and published, safely behind the ccs.us firewall, and are only publicly accessible once the students are old enough, and have parental permission to post items online.
07 December 2018 - Reflections on Pearl Harbor
We learned, watching CNN Student News this morning, that today is the 77th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This was a surprise attack that crippled the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet. The Japanese government was allied with Germany during WWII and was not only attacking us for control of the Pacific Ocean, but attacking China and other countries in the region. This attack created such outrage throughout our country, that it prompted our entry into the war in support of our allies, and in defense of our other interests throughout the world. I think it was sad how our soldiers and sailors died that day, and we should reflect on our role in a global society, and how we can be strong during times of conflict.
03 December 2018 - Computer Science Education Week
Today is the start of national CS Education Week. We will be learning to code in our CSA class, and learning how to extend these projects into other classes throughout the building. I especially like the Street Art project, and the Dance Party projects. you can see more about the class projects at https://padlet.com/hscribner/t3a4dkxlxwt6
