Recommended for students who took Everyday Science
General Physics allows students to explore the fundamental principles of physics which characterize the quantitative and conceptual understanding of generalized themes and topics in the discipline. This course is for students who are not taking Regents Physics. Topics will include, but are not limited to, forces and dynamics, momentum, energy, and waves and sound. Computer-based and traditional laboratory techniques are used to obtain, organize and analyze data. Conclusions are developed using both qualitative and quantitative procedures. The main goal of this course is to provide a solid foundation in the study of physics. Through many activities students will demonstrate how theory is applicable in laboratory situations. All students will develop good methods of problem solving and proper laboratory technique. This course is designed for students who have taken Regents Living Environment and Everyday Science. The class meets daily for 1 period with no extra lab period. The course will culminate with a local examination.
