Google sites recently got a major facelift (you are looking at!). Come learn how to get setup, how to use, and how you could use for your students to create and share something that they are working on!
The old Google Sites was not as user friendly, and definitely did not look the part of a 21st century website. The new Google Sites has some updates and features that make it much more user friendly. Some of these include:
All in all, these updates are fantastic for the users. There are some that are more powerful than others, starting with the layouts and the access from Google Drive. Those two features start to dwarf the power of the old Google Sites pretty quickly.
The New Google Sites is incredibly easy to get started with. Instead of having seek the location of sites like you did with the older version of Google Sites, now you can easily and quickly access Google Sites from Google Drive. This Google Drive integration is beneficial in many ways, especially when it comes to collaborating with peers. The Google Drive integration also allows for the easy embedding and sharing of Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Charts, and Videos.
Google Sites will allow our students an easy to use, no additional login required space to create content on the internet. Students can publish their findings, present materials, and share ideas. This empowers our students to do incredible things.
Students will also have the opportunity to begin showcasing some of their work and what they have done in the classroom, creating a portfolio of work that they can show to college admissions officers and potential employers. This should help all of our students secure jobs in the future.
