About Eastern View Theatre

TheatreEV - our name for Eastern View High School Theatre - was founded in August, 2008, when the new high school in Culpeper County opened its doors for the first time.

Beginning with our first school musical, "West Side Story," and continuing through to today, TheatreEV has attempted to offer students a wide range of experiences, on stage and off. Producing at from two to three productions a year, from one-acts and musicals, to classics and original works, students have been able to spread their artistic wings on such varied productions as: "See How They Run" (British farce), "The Diary of Anne Frank" and "The Crucible (modern classics), "Steel Magnolias" (contemporary comedy), "Doubt" (contemporary drama, one act-cutting), "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (Shakespeare), and "Anime Momotaro" (anime-inspired children's play). Plays by theatre director Jeff Walker - an adaptation of Bram Stoker's "Dracula," "Transplant," - and well as original student work, "St. Joseph's Retreat," have garnered praise and attention.

We have also produced a wealth of musicals, such as "Grease," "It's a Wonderful Life -the Musical," "Godspell Jr.," Miracle on 34th St. - the Musical," "A Christmas Carol," and currently Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."

Eastern View Theatre has been awarded top honors in the Battlefield District one-act competition for "Richard Cory." Our one-act adaptation of "Doubt" was awarded three acting awards and honorable mention at the Virginia Theatre Association High School Theatre Festival. The most honored production, to date, was the one-act play adaptation of the legend of Sweeney Todd entitled "Fleet Street Horrors." Co-written by father and son Jeffrey and Joshua Walker, "Fleet Street Horrors" was an honorable mention among the productions competing that year. In addition, "Fleet Street Horrors received:
