Meet the Team

Ms. LaFontaine - Homeroom Teacher

  • Ms. LaFontaine is in her 18th year of teaching and her 13th year teaching 3rd grade. This is her 11th year at A.G. Richardson. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned a BA in English and a Master’s Degree in Education. She has one daughter, Taylor, who is an 11th grader at Eastern View High School. Ms. LaFontaine likes to stay active by watching Taylor’s field hockey and soccer games, going to Crossfit, competing in obstacle course races, and going to concerts. She also started a field hockey club at AG 10 years ago. She coaches girls grades 3 - 5, along with Miss Simpson. Ms. LaFontaine is looking forward to another exciting year of teaching at A.G. Richardson!

Ms. Martin - Homeroom Teacher

  • Ms. Martin grew up on a large farm in central Virginia. She is the youngest girl of 14 children and was the first in her family to go to college. She attended the University of Mary Washington as a Regional Scholar and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, earning a degree in psychology and a Collegiate Professional Teaching License. Ms. Martin has taught third grade for nineteen years. She has also taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. Her favorite subject to teach is math. Ms. Martin has one adult child of her own and has fostered a number of others. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and working on family genealogy. When she retires, she hopes to travel to her maternal family’s ancestral home of Scotland.

Miss Simpson - Homeroom Teacher

  • This is Miss Simpson's 11th year of teaching at AGR. She spent one year teaching kindergarten, but she has since found her home in third grade. She is a graduate of James Madison University and loves to cheer for the Dukes! Outside of school, Miss Simpson is an avid sports fan and can be found watching and attending all kinds of sporting events. She also enjoys trying new recipes, reading, and hanging out with her dog, Griffey.

Mrs. Sink - Homeroom Teacher

  • This is Mrs. Sink's 16th year at AGR and her 1st year teaching 3rd grade. Prior to this year, she offered reading interventions for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. She is a graduate of Widener University and is currently enrolled at Liberty University. She will be graduating in May 2021 with a Masters in Education. She has lived in Culpeper for 19 years, after relocating here from Nashville, Tennessee. She has two adult children, who attended AGR. Her daughter is a recent graduate from the College of William and Mary, and her son attends Old Dominion University. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and her fur baby, Cocoa.

Miss Berry:

  • Miss Berry joined A.G. Richardson last year as the school's TDT counselor and transitioned this year into the role of 2nd and 3rd grade SPED Learning Support. Miss Berry earned her Associate's Degree in Education and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from George Mason University. She is currently a graduate student at Southern New Hampshire University where she is working towards her Master’s Degree in I/O Psychology. Miss Berry has one daughter, Jessalyn, who is a 6th grader at Floyd T. Binns Middle School. Miss Berry enjoys watching football games (Go Cowboys), attending music events and outdoor festivals, and playing with her bulldog Drogo.

Mrs. Rowe:

  • Mrs. Rowe is originally from the Philadelphia/South Jersey area. She has been married to her husband Mark for 31 years. She has two adult children and two grandchildren. Mrs. Rowe and her husband moved to Virginia eight years ago to be closer to their grandchildren. Not long after moving to Virginia, Mrs. Rowe left her legal career after 30 years to pursue a career in education, something that she has always wanted to do. She is currently attending online classes, working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and will graduate in 2022. Mrs. Rowe joined the A.G. Richardson family in 2017 and will begin her fourth year as a para-educator special education learning support.
