Samantha is fascinated by how we humans sometimes forget that we are also animals and that we are connected to nature. This poem compares nature and the human body.
Though we shall never meet you, I will forever surround you
Your eyes will be nebulas, colorful and yearning for creation
The veins in your body will mirror the roots of plants, both nurturing the lives
of two beings
The wrinkles you hate, etched deep in your skin, reminiscent of the rings in a
sacred tree that sits in the forest unnoticed, undisturbed, but grows with
age, wiser than it was 200 years ago
You may never remember me, but your body will remember the stardust it
took to create it, the warmth of the sun’s rays, the soft grass on its supple
skin
Though you may never see me, you will see your mother's face looking back
at you in the mirror, a look of distaste for how you turned out
Though your body will age, your soul will remember when you craved life like
the baby doe born in spring atop grassy fields
Though you will never meet me, you will look around and see me in
everything that surrounds you.
Kamaria wrote this poem about falling in love and being in love during the best season of the year.
I love you.
Nothing more can be said
Light fall breeze and crisp fallen leaves
Loving eyes and warm hands touch
The smell of summer’s transition
Dancing around with you in the kitchen
Baking cookies and planning Homecoming
I love you.
Nothing more can be said
We could be Quinn and Joker
Sally and Jack
Together to the end
Autumn is the season of love
The season of us
Sweaters and Uggs
If I’m Spiderman then you must be Gwen
Football games and being goofy together
After school, productions and track practice.
I love you.
Nothing more can be said
Madyson was inspired by singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, who has a song with the same title. She was also influenced by the many romance movies she's seen in the past.
I miss how you were.
You were the dream guy who checked off every box of mine.
You exceeded my standards, the bare minimum.
You gave me tulips every time I was unhappy,
Some days for no reason.
I remember they were a different color each time.
You tied my white Converse for me each day.
You snuck heartfelt notes into my locker.
You held my clammy hand in your car all while driving.
You waited for me to be ready for our relationship.
You were the best guy I’d ever met.
You shaped me into a better person.
I hope he asks to marry me, I told my best friend.
That was the only thing on my mind,
Until I found out you were with another girl behind my back.
This whole time.
It shattered me to the core.
My legs gave out.
I kneeled, and tears rolled down my face.
Your apologetic words still echo in my mind: I love you, I’m sorry.
Adelynn was inspired by another poem she saw on Instagram and a conversation she had with one of her friends.
I know his favorite color is red. I know that he’s the only thing that consumes my thoughts during late nights alone in my bed.
He knows the reason I always have my hair down.
But he’s a stranger.
I know the 3 hoodies he has and the color of his eyes. And I know how it sounds when he cries.
He knows the stuffed animals I have and the stories behind all of them.
But he’s a stranger.
He is a stranger who knows all of my secrets.
