Week of March 16-20
Good Afternoon CHES Families,
I wanted to share a special shout out to Ms. Harris, Ms. Jordan, and EVERYONE especially Ms. Ciscato, Ms. Augustin, Mr. Wright, and Ms. Miles who volunteered through time and/or donations to make our fifth grade production a HUGE success!! I thank each of you for doing your part to help our 5th graders learn, grow, and express themselves! I know countless hours were spent on this.
Other special shout outs go to Ms. French, Ms. Riggin, Ms. Pierpont, and ALL of the volunteers including staff members and community members who helped with our book fair, and glow gallery this past week! It was a busy, but fun week!!!
Reminder that March 20 is a holiday and there is no school.
Lost & Found - the lost & found is near the front lobby. It has many jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, etc. Please stop by and take a look if your student is missing something. The lost & found will be out until March 27. After that time, items will be discarded.

Children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2026, can start kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year. Beginning the registration process early will help schools prepare for the best possible kindergarten year, which in turn will give students a strong start to their K-12 years.
***Pre-registration for Kindergarten OPENS March 2nd!**
Please pre-register your child for the upcoming 26-27 school year through your current ParentVue account. (New students will create an account during pre-registration.) Registration information can be found at the following link https://www.oneccps.org/page/register-for-school. Once you have pre-registered, our office will reach out about setting up an appointment during our Kindergarten Registration Kickoff Week, which will be held April 6th-April 10th.

Reservoir Color Run!
We are excited to share that our upcoming House Pep Weeks are just around the corner! These special weeks are designed to build school spirit, strengthen connections, and celebrate the unique strengths of each of our Houses.
During each House’s featured Pep Week, we will spotlight that House with fun facts shared during the morning announcements. Students in the featured House will also have a special opportunity to visit the Book Vending Machine during their library resource time to select a book — a fun way to celebrate and encourage a love of reading!
All students are invited to join in the excitement. They may want to show support for the other Houses by wearing that House's color during its Pep Week!
In addition to our House Pep Weeks, we are looking forward to other exciting themed weeks this semester, including:
Unity Week, when we will celebrate all of our Houses together! During Unity Week, students are encouraged to proudly represent their own House colors.
Please refer to the calendar here for the specific dates of each House’s Pep Week so your student can participate.
We look forward to seeing our school community come together in colorful, spirited celebration!
We want to celebrate YOU! Please join us for a morning of fun! Mark your calendar! Our celebration is March 25 at 9:00a.m. and we invite you to join us in the cafeteria! Please RSVP to Dede Nowlin at (804) 739-6220.

Please help us keep our students safe during parent drop-off. We have noticed an increase in students hanging out of windows and sunroofs while cars are moving in the drop off line. For their safety, we kindly ask that all children remain seated and buckled in until your vehicle has come to a complete stop at the designated drop-off point. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.

Please send in a hand-written note if you need to change your child’s transportation. We ask that you not show up in the car rider line without first sending in a note. We cannot make changes at dismissal time.
Parent Drop off will close at 8:25am in order for students to have enough time to be in their classroom at 8:30am.
Any transportation changes must be made by phone no later than 2:30pm.
Any early pick ups must be before 2:30pm.
Whenever you or someone authorized to pick up your child comes into the office, a physical identification card must be presented. An image of an ID card will not be accepted.
**Due to snow, ice, and inclement weather impacting instructional days, our Spring SOL dates have shifted. Please see the schedule below and make note on your calendar to avoid scheduling appointments on these days.
*Note slight change below...4th grade will take the reading SOL over 2 days (May 6 and 7), in addition to 3rd grade doing this. 5th will take reading in a single day. For math, 3rd grade is the only grade taking the SOL over 2 days. 4th & 5th take math in a single day.
