This is our online library catalog where you can search to see the Matoaca Library Holdings.

Directions for access

  • Access through the Rapid Identity Page by clicking on this icon

  • Click on the icon and select Matoaca High School from drop-down list of high schools.

  • Once you reach our page, login at the top right of the page and enter your student id and password. Then you can search and access e-resources.

MackinVia

This is a digital content management system that provides easy access to eBooks, read-alongs, audiobooks, databases, and videos. MackinVIA allows simultaneous, unlimited access to multiple users on all platforms, and is mobile friendly.

Discovery Education

This database includes a plethora of learning activities. Discover Education Audio has podcasts, audiobooks, short stories, poetry, historic speeches, and more.

National Emergency Library (an Internet Archive initiative)

A collection of books that supports emergency remote teaching, research activities, independent scholarship, and intellectual stimulation while universities, schools, training centers, and libraries are closed.

SYNC Audio-Books for Teens

A free summer audiobook program for teens.

Starting April 30 and continuing 13 weeks until July 29, SYNC gives participants two thematically paired audio-books a week.

Sponsored by AudioFile magazine, with titles delivered through Sora, a free student app from OverDrive

Audible

Amazon is offering this limited version of its audiobook service free to students for as long as schools stay closed due to COVID-19.

Included are titles in eight different languages.

Big Timber Media

Big Timber Media, a company that supports educational publishers and distributors providing eBooks to school-age readers, is offering free access to a variety of eBooks until June 30.

Access their collection of fiction and nonfiction books for grades 9-12

Project Gutenberg

  • Provides access to more than 60,000 free ebooks to download or read online.

  • Includes much of the world’s classic works of literature, with most books published before 1924.

  • You can search and browse by topic, genre, and age group

World Digital Library

  • The World Digital Library makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from all countries and cultures

  • Includes books, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, journals, prints and photographs, sound recordings, and films

  • Search and browse by place, time period, topic, type of item, language, and institution

Britannica Image Quest

More than an online encyclopedia, this is digital resource has articles and MILLIONS of rights-cleared images that students can use for research, papers, reports, presentations, and more.


Explora HS

This is a digital product from EBSCO supporting both student research and classroom instruction. Explora HS provides access to Master File Complete, a comprehensive collection of full-text general interest resources, and NewspaperSource, a full text access point for hundreds of regional, national, and international newspapers and radio and television transcripts.


Biography in Context

This is a digital resource providing authoritative information on more than 600,000 people worldwide and from all time periods. Sources of information include reference works, primary sources, audio, video, images, magazines, newspapers and academic journals.


Global Issues in Context

This is a digital resource which supports global awareness and provides a global perspective for students, while empowering them to critically analyze and understand the most important issues of the modern world. Updated daily, it integrates news, global viewpoints, reference materials, country information, primary source documents, videos, statistics, and more.


Literature Resource Center

In addition to being a current, comprehensive, and reliable online literature resource, this database brings together materials that support interdisciplinary approaches, information literacy, and the development of critical thinking skills. Researchers can find information, analysis, and criticism on more than 130,000 writers from all disciplines


Opposing Viewpoints in Context

This is a cross-curricular online resource covering today's hottest social issues, from capital punishment to immigration to marijuana. Informed, differing views help learners develop critical-thinking skills and draw their own conclusions. It is cross-searchable with Gale In Context: Global Issues.


Science in Context

This is a digital resource that provides contextual information on hundreds of today's most significant science topics and showcases how scientific disciplines relate to real-world issues ranging from bacteria to obesity and weather. Includes full-text articles, science experiments, interactive simulations, and other multimedia.


Student Resources in Context

Like Explora HS, this is what Mr. Harter calls a “Walmart Database.” You can find a little something for every researcher in this cross-curricular resource, which reinforces the development of skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, and innovation. You also will find content aligned to national and state curriculum standards.


Access World News

This is a digital resource with access to a comprehensive collection of reliable news sources covering a broad range of topics and issues. Includes audio, blogs, newspapers, journals, magazines, newsletters, newswires, transcripts, videos, and web-only sources.
