Hello CHES Families!
In an effort to ensure all families receive the same information, you will be hearing from your child's teacher (some might have already heard and/or attended a meeting) about the opportunity to attend a virtual parent meeting to hear about the information in this newsletter. Please read it over prior to the meeting. This meeting is intended for parents, but kids are welcome to sit with you.
We know your schedules are busy, so if you are unable to attend the meeting, your child's teacher will reach out via phone.
As always, please reach out with any additional questions, needs, or concerns! We are doing our very best to close out the school year in a way that none of us ever imagined.
Thank you for your continued support!
Mrs. Strollo
CCPS is excited to share information about summer learning opportunities for students. Participation in these opportunities is optional.
Elementary school summer learning opportunities (Recovery of Learning) will offer students the opportunity to access a personalized curriculum in mathematics and language arts that covers course content from the grade level they currently are in and allows them to progress beyond the current school year if they are ready.
Registration for free elementary school Recovery of Learning courses is May 25-June 15. More information will be available soon at mychesterfieldschools.com. Information about additional supports and/or opportunities available for students with disabilities and English language learners will be shared once finalized.
All elementary students with Internet access and a school-division issued Chromebook or personal device (home computer, tablet, smart phone, etc.) with the minimum system requirements to run each application will have the opportunity to access a personalized curriculum in both mathematics and language arts that covers course content from the grade level they were in during the current school year and also allows a student to progress beyond the current school year if they are ready.
Students will work in three primary applications described below. They will have a licensed teacher interacting online to provide support through goal setting, progress monitoring, virtual office hours, and small group instruction. All courses provide students an opportunity to move through the content at their own pace and to test out of content previously mastered.
Dreambox: Computer-adaptive math application (mathematics) System requirements
MyOn: Digital library of books and reading materials (literacy) System Requirements
Lexia Core 5: Comprehensive computer-adaptive literacy skill-building application System requirements
Paper packets will continue to be prepared and made available at schools twice during the month of July for students who do not have access to online learning opportunities.
The elementary school Recovery of Learning program begins on June 29th. Information about registration, which starts May 25, will be sent later this week.
