Parent Access

Canvas and ParentVue

Canvas

Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) that packages and delivers lessons from the teacher to your child. Students complete online assignments and assessments to show their learning.

As the school year progresses, you will hear your child talking about the different things they are doing in Canvas. Want to help your child, but don’t know the Canvas lingo? Here are some explanations and tutorials for a few of the most frequently used features that students will use in Canvas:

  • Announcements: Teachers share important information or reminders with students.

  • Assignments: Teachers give a task to students. Students will need to turn in their completed work in Canvas.

  • Calendar: Assignments and assessments show up on the student (and parent) calendar. Students can also add their own tasks to their calendar.

  • Inbox: This feature allows students and teachers to email one another in a safe environment. This is a great way for students to ask questions when they don’t have immediate access to their teacher.

Do you have an older child who wants to access Canvas on their mobile device? Here are directions on setting up a student mobile account.

ParentVue

ParentVue is a system that manages grades. Final grades will be posted here every two weeks by your child's teacher. It is highly recommended to set up an account to monitor your child's grades throughout the year. You will need a personalized key to create an account. You can get that by calling the main office.

You can access ParentVue with this link: https://va-chesterfield-psv.edupoint.com/PXP2_Login.aspx or download the ParentVue app for your phone or tablet. Your child can also access this portal via their Rapid Identity dashboard by clicking on the StudentVue icon.
