A WEP is a Written Education Plan for students who are identified gifted in the state of Ohio. There WEP is a valuable document that, much like an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) outlines the student's identification area(s), annual goals for the student and how that student will be served in the classroom to accommodate for their gifted potential identification.
While the WEP is written by the GIS, teachers, parents, and the student are important members of the WEP development team to create realistic, attainable annual goals that demonstrate growth for that child in their area of gifted potential.
WEPs are distributed in October, which gives you and the GIS time to develop specific goals for your gifted students to help them grow in their areas of strength.
