Updates for the Parents/Carers of Christ’s College Finchley
International Women's Day is tomorrow, Friday 8th March
Dear families,
It has been another busy week at CCF. Yesterday was World Book Day and there were a number of events including ‘Follow the Story’ where pupils tracked a story throughout the entire day by reading a section of William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies at the start of each lesson. Pupils also participated in events in the library including the ‘Masked Reader’ and bookmark competitions. Tomorrow is International Women’s Day and pupils looked at women’s rights over time and gender equality in Wednesday’s MyZone lessons. We have also been celebrating inspirational women at the school on the CCF instagram page (click here) and we have a new female member of the science department - our new school pet Lola the bearded dragon (click here) who is settling in well.
We have been interviewing over the past two days for the important position of Deputy Headteacher leading on pastoral and behaviour. We had over 30 applications for the role and I am delighted to announce that, following a rigorous interview process, Mark Hodges, who is currently Senior Assistant Headteacher, has been successful and has accepted the position. I am sure parents and carers who know Mr Hodges will join me in congratulating him on his promotion which will officially start after the Easter break.
I am conscious that there is a lot happening at the school and we now have a parent calendar on our website (click here). I strongly believe that the school should be at the heart of the community it serves and that education works best when there is a three-way partnership between parents/carers, pupils and the school. I am looking to set up a Parent Voice group which would meet half termly to discuss issues affecting our school community and have a voice in what we are doing at CCF. Should you be interested in getting involved, please email info@ccfplus.com. We are also re-launching our PFA but the two are separate and those involved in the Parent Voice would not be expected to organise any school events. Should you wish to be part of the PFA, please also get in touch via info@ccfplus.com.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a peaceful weekend in the sunshine.
Kind regards,
Dr Ruth Hill
