CHEF AMBER WILL BE ON THE GREAT BRITISH MENU 2025
Dear families,
I am delighted to share with you that our Head Chef and Senior Food Educator, Amber Francis, will be taking part in this year’s Great British Menu. It’s the first time a school chef has been part of the show and I know the entire CCF community will be rooting for Amber. Since she joined CCF it is no understatement to say that Amber has transformed our food provision and I am delighted that she will be sharing her vision and skills for cooking and nutrition. The regional heats start on BBC2 on Tuesday at 8pm and there were pupils and staff involved in supporting Amber so we look forward to starring roles from members of our CCF community as we cheer on Amber. Remember to follow our CCF instagram (@christscollegefinchley or click here) for more updates.
Year 9 pupils heard a talk on Wednesday morning from the family member of a Holocaust survivor as part of the work over the course of this week linked to Monday’s Holocaust Memorial Day, and our pupils showed maturity and sensitivity in their response to the presentation. Events across the globe sadly continue to highlight the vital importance of learning from the past and remembering that there is more that unites us than divides us. I was also impressed by the Year 11 pupils who undertook their Food mock examination this week; the final dishes in their three-course meals were excellent. It is sometimes said that taking part is more important than winning, but I was delighted to hear that Year 9 won the Barnet football cup this week: congratulations to the team and to Mr Rickman.
We have had a number of visitors over the course of the last two weeks, including from prospective staff, and they have all commented on how calm the school is and how courteous and impressive our pupils are. I always say our pupils are our greatest asset and their respectful approach has certainly shone through this week.
Finally, I wish you all a lovely weekend.
