Year 8: My Society: Rights, Freedoms, and Fairness
Year 9: My Planet: Protecting Our Future Together
Year 10: My Finances: Managing Money in the Real World
MyZone Lesson Wednesday 15th April 2026
Year 7 – Water and rail safety
This Lesson covers:
The most common dangers around water (e.g. cold water shock, strong currents, hidden depths) and railways (e.g. high-speed trains, electrified tracks).
How accidents happen in real-life scenarios, including risk-taking behaviour, peer pressure, and lack of awareness.
The concept of risk vs consequence and how small decisions can lead to serious outcomes.
Key water safety messages (e.g. float to live, never swim alone, knowing local hazards).
Key rail safety rules (e.g. staying off tracks, level crossing safety, dangers of trespassing).
What to do in an emergency, including how to call for help and what information to give.
The role of bystanders—how to help safely without putting yourself at risk.
How personal responsibility and decision-making can prevent harm to yourself and others.
Year 8 – Democracy and politics
This Lesson covers:
What democracy means (people having a say in how their country is run through voting).
Different political systems (e.g. monarchy, dictatorship, anarchy) and how they compare to democracy.
How politics works in the UK, including the role of Parliament, elections, and forming a government.
The main UK political parties and the idea of differing viewpoints and ideologies.
The difference between left-wing and right-wing political ideas in simple terms.
The roles of key figures (e.g. Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, Cabinet).
Why voting matters and how citizens can influence decisions.
The idea that political opinions are personal, varied, and often nuanced—not simply “right or wrong.”

What climate change is and how it differs from everyday weather.
The main human causes of climate change (e.g. burning fossil fuels, deforestation, agriculture).
The greenhouse effect and how it leads to global warming.
The difference between sustainable and unsustainable practices (e.g. renewable vs non-renewable energy, consumption habits).
The three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic.
Real-world impacts of climate change (e.g. rising temperatures, extreme weather, sea level rise).
Common myths and misinformation about climate change and how to evaluate reliable sources.
Year 10 – NO MYZONE DUE TO MOCKS
Save the Date!
Lost Property
Please check over Easter for any items that your child may have lost at school.
We will be sending any unclaimed lost property to charity in the second week of the Summer Term.
Reminder: Spring Cleaning? We Can Help!
It’s that time of year again! The nights are getting brighter, the sun is peeking through, and that "spring cleaning bug" is officially in the air. If you are clearing out your cupboards, we have the perfect home for your unwanted items.
If you have a clothing rail that you can donate we would greatly appreciate it!
We are looking for donations of pre-loved CCF uniforms and PE kits. If your child has outgrown their uniform, please consider passing it on to help other students.
Our talented performers are preparing for our next school production: Oliver! To bring Victorian London to life, the Drama Department would be incredibly grateful for any donations of period-style clothing.
We are specifically looking for:
For the Workhouse & Street Gangs: Flat caps, waistcoats, oversized shirts, and heavy trousers.
For the Streets of London: Long skirts, petticoats, shawls, and aprons.
Formal Wear: Top hats, blazers, or capes.
Even if an item is a little worn or "distressed," it might be exactly what a young Artful Dodger needs!
Where to drop off: Please bring any donations to reception for the attention of Mrs McMorrow.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity. We couldn't put on these shows (or kit out our teams) without you!
