I have met with the Principal and Vice Principal to set these policies.
Esports Grading Policies:
Students who have an F or 2 D's count as failing and will not be eligible to participate in games or practices until their grades are fixed. This is not quarter grades, it is current grades. So they will want to be on top of their grades, and make sure if they are failing they fix it quickly. I will be checking grades every morning to determine participation eligibility for the day, I will email the parents of a failing student in the morning so they can make plans to pick up their child in the event they are not eligible.
After I check grades in the morning, that is the decision for the day, if the grade is fixed that day it will not affect their participation in practice or games for that day. It will only affect the next day's participation.
Students who miss 2 consecutive games due to grade issues will no longer be eligible to be on the team.
Important Note: We want to make sure the kids are on top of their grades but we do not want to set a precedent to aggressively bug teachers. If you know what needs to be done and it has been turned in, hassling the teachers to force them to put the grade in early is not acceptable behavior. Grading is at the teacher's discretion.
