🇪🇸 ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Español!
Learn the language. Discover the culture. Find your voice.
Welcome to Spanish class! This is a place where students will learn a new language while discovering the rich cultures, traditions, history, music, food, and people of the Spanish-speaking world.
What Will We Learn?
Our goal is to help students develop the confidence and skills to understand, speak, read, and write Spanish at a level appropriate for their grade.
Throughout the school year, students will learn:
👋 Greetings and everyday expressions
🔢 Numbers, colors, days, months, and basic vocabulary
👨👩👧 Family, friends, school, and community
🐶 Animals, food, clothing, and everyday objects
🗣️ Conversation and pronunciation
📖 Reading and understanding Spanish
✏️ Writing words, sentences, and short paragraphs
🎵 Songs, games, stories, and interactive activities
🌎 Culture and traditions from Spanish-speaking countries
As students progress through the grades, Spanish instruction will become increasingly sophisticated. Older students will expand their vocabulary, develop stronger conversational skills, study grammar, read authentic materials, write in Spanish, and explore the cultures and perspectives of Spanish-speaking communities around the world.
🎯 Our Learning Objectives
By the end of the school year, students should be able to:
Communicate: Use Spanish to greet others, ask and answer questions, express ideas, and participate in age-appropriate conversations.
Understand: Recognize and understand increasingly complex Spanish when spoken or written.
Read: Develop reading skills through age-appropriate words, sentences, stories, and authentic materials.
Write: Progress from individual words and simple sentences to increasingly developed written communication.
Discover: Learn about the diverse cultures, traditions, geography, history, and contributions of the Spanish-speaking world.
Build Confidence: Develop a positive attitude toward learning another language and the confidence to use Spanish without being afraid of making mistakes.
🌎 Spanish Is More Than a Language
Learning Spanish opens a door to a much bigger world.
Spanish is spoken by hundreds of millions of people around the globe. In our classroom, students will discover that there is no single "Spanish culture." Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean each have their own histories, traditions, music, foods, celebrations, and ways of life.
Our classroom will celebrate that diversity.
Students can expect a classroom that is active, creative, and engaging. We will learn Spanish through conversation, games, music, stories, projects, technology, cultural activities, and real-world situations.
Most importantly, students will learn that making mistakes is part of learning a language. ¡No tengas miedo de equivocarte! Don't be afraid to make mistakes!
Every new word is a step toward becoming a Spanish speaker.
Welcome to Spanish class — ¡Bienvenidos!
¡Hola! My name is Mr. Hernández, and I am excited to be your Spanish teacher! I have spent many years working in journalism, television, and media, telling stories and connecting people from different cultures and parts of the world. My career has given me the opportunity to work with people from many countries and to experience the power of language and communication.
I believe learning Spanish is about much more than memorizing words and grammar. It is an opportunity to communicate, discover new cultures, and see the world from different perspectives. In our classroom, we will learn through conversation, stories, music, games, projects, and cultural experiences.
I am excited to share my love of Spanish, storytelling, and the world with you! My goal is for every student to feel comfortable trying, making mistakes, asking questions, and growing as a Spanish speaker. ¡Vamos a aprender y divertirnos juntos!
