Hello everyone! My name is Kaitlyn VanZuiden (Mrs. V) and I am your students fifth grade English Language Arts teacher. I am from a small town in southern Illinois, Quincy. I attended St. Peter Elementary School and Parish through 8th grade, and continued my Catholic education while attending Quincy Notre Dame High School. Upon graduation I attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in Relational Communication and Sociology in 2013. After completing my degree, I moved to Madison, Wisconsin to become a banker and English as a Second Language teacher. I was granted the opportunity to teach English and Germany for six months solidifying my passion for teaching. I arrived back in the states and decided to continue my educational journey by gaining my masters degree in elementary education. I graduated in December of 2019 and moved back to Lawrence, KS with my now husband, a Staff Sergeant in the Kansas Army National Guard, and started subbing for Corpus Christi. I immediately fell in love with the school and community and wanted to pursue a full time position here. There was an opening in 5th grade and the rest is history. In 2022 we welcomed our 1st baby Remington who has been our greatest blessing. I look forward to meeting all of you and continuing our educational and faith journey together. If you have any questions for me please do not hesitate to email me.
Hello! I am excited to join the middle school world. I have enjoyed this age group as a teacher for 12 years in Lawrence Public Schools. My K-9 Education degree from the University of Kansas also includes an endorsement in English as a Second Language.
My family includes my husband, Josh, our sons, Will and Andre and daughter Demoree. We are a sports fan family and love participating in Lawrence community events.
