Class overview
Welcome to 7th and 8th grade science! This year will be an adventure of fun and knowledge focusing on Life Science for 7th grade and Physical Science for 8th grade. Seventh grade will focus on cells and body structure, genetics and heredity, and ecology and environmental science. Eight grade will study electricity, force and waves, atomic structure, and chemistry.
About me
Hello! I am Carli Vey. This is my 3rd year teaching and my second year teaching science. I absolutely love to teach and to learn. Vacations always include a trip to a museum, an exhibit, or some other learning opportunity- which I think drives my kids crazy. I believe anything you learn can be fun and I strive to change up my lessons frequently so it's something new and challenging as well as enjoyable. I look forward to a great year with all of you!
I am originally from Arkansas and earned my bachelor's and master's from the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University respectively (Woooo Pig Sooie!). I live in Gardner, Kansas. My husband and I have two children- ages 11 and 21. My daughter, Piper, is a senior at the University of Illinois in Chicago. She will be a nurse this time next year. My son, Luke, will be in 6th grade at Pioneer Ridge Middle School. We love football (Go Chiefs!), soccer (Go Sporting!), theater, hiking, hunting/fishing, and anything fun. We have two dogs: a pug named Pug and a beagle named Gus and a cat who thinks he's a dog whose name is Fanta but is only ever called "Kitty".
