How to Get a Chromebook

Calhoun County Schools are a 1:1 school system. This means that each student in our system gets their own Chromebook to use while they are a student here. However, there are a few steps you have to take before you get it.

1. Parents and students must sign the acceptable use policy before a student can receive the Chromebook.

2. You may pay a $40 usage fee that will allow you to bring the Chromebook home and receive the charger. If you choose not to pay the usage fee you will house your chromebook in the library every afternoon.

3. You are responsible for the Chromebook and all repairs that may be needed throughout the school year. We will take them back up at the end of the school year to assess damage or complete work orders for maintenance.

Please be patient with us while waiting to receive your Chromebook. Sometimes it takes a few days. No matter the case, we are working hard to make sure your student has every resource available in order to be successful.

If you have questions about the status of your student's Chromebook, please contact Mrs. Lindy Mange at 256-741-4905

Chromebook Issues

Please try these two things before turning in your Chromebook for repair.

Make sure your Chromebook is charged and your power cord is plugged in all the way to your charger.

Try to restart your Chromebook by holding down the power button and the refresh button (above the #4) at the same time for 10 seconds. After that try to power back on and see if that helps.

If these two things do not work, you may turn in your Chromebook to Mrs. Mange in the library. She will send it for repairs and will let you know the estimated repair time as well as estimated costs. You are responsible for all repairs and damages to the Chromebook throughout the school year.
