Below is an abbreviated list of some class policies that can also be found in the syllabus for your course. Please refer to the syllabus for the full overview of each individual class policy. The syllabus will be handed out on the first day of school. Parents are asked to read over and sign it. Please see Mrs. Waddell for clarification or questions regarding class policy information.
Late Assignments:
Assignments are expected on the due date at the beginning of the class period unless otherwise indicated. Students will be made aware of assignments through a variety of portals. Along with being verbally reminded of pending assignments every day, assignments will be posted on the board in the classroom and on the calendar handouts distributed each month.
Tests and other work missed during an absence should be made up within 5 school days per CCBOE policy. It is the responsibility of the student to check on what was missed during an absence. All hard copies of class handouts are available at the front of the classroom in the "absent work" files.
Technology Policy:
There will be times when you are allowed to use your cell phone, tablet, or laptop in class. Unless otherwise stated by the teacher, you should assume you are not allowed to have your cell phone, tablet, or laptop out during class lecture. You should not be texting, listening to music, using Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, or any other social media during class time. You may ask permission to use your technology, but if it is denied, you are expected to follow the teacher’s instructions. Failure to do so will be result in the teacher collecting your phone for the duration of the class period.
Honor Code:
It is expected that at all times each student will do his or her own work unless specifically stipulated by the instructor that the assignment is a collaborative effort.
Copying someone else’s work whether for a homework assignment or on a quiz/test, is cheating. This includes but is not limited to cutting/copying and pasting notes, downloading essays, etc. If caught cheating, the student will receive ISS, parent contact, and an alternate assignment must be completed to replace the original grade. Cheating is a serious offense that also results in a student losing membership in Beta Club or any of the Honor Societies as well as leadership positions in school organizations. You may wish to refer to the student handbook on the matter of cheating as well. In college, cheating can actually result in expulsion from the academic institution in most cases.
Please do your own work. Homework, classwork, and quizzes help me gauge whether or not you understand the content, concepts, etc. therefore allowing me to determine if I need to readdress a certain topic.
