For some people teaching is just a job. It is about having summers off, 2 week Christmas vacation, a week long spring break and more. For me it is about not being able to sleep the night before school starts because I am so excited. It is about seeing the look on a child’s face when you call them by name and tell them good job. It is about the hugs and “I love you’s” the little ones give you; It is about seeing my students in the grocery store and the look of surprise on their faces. It is about the joy the children bring to my life each day. For me, teaching is a passion, not just a job. As a teacher, my desire is to not only teach children but to also reach them. As a P.E. teacher, I have the privilege of watching each child grow from year to year. I also have the unique opportunity to be able to help shape the students and have a lasting impact on their life. I have taught in several different schools and different school systems. Although each school differs by appearance, location and county, the students are the same. All children want to be loved and to feel like they matter to someone. God has shown each one of us love through his son Jesus Christ, and he has given each one of us a talent or gift to use in his glory. I know that mine is teaching. Each day he renews my spirit and shows me how to love children and how to be a positive influence in their lives. We do not know the impact that we have and we cannot necessarily control the outcome, but we can control what we pour into the lives of each child every day. Every day that I get to teach and touch lives is an accomplishment to me. Thank you for the opportunity to teach your child each day.
