Classroom Expectations

Each student will be expected to adhere to the Greenbrier High School Student Handbook. Additionally, students in my classroom are held to high standards of behavior. Students will respect themselves, the teacher, fellow students, and the classroom. This includes, but is not limited to: cleaning up after oneself, not being disruptive, and being kind toward fellow students. Any behaviors that do not align with the Student Handbook will be handled with the Greenbrier High School Progressive Discipline Plan unless I deem the behavior severe enough to warrant the acceleration of such plan.

Absences & Tardies

Students are responsible for any work missed during an absence. If a student is absent, they should see me the next day to get any information and work needed. I am strict on tardies. Being late to class is not only a bad habit, but it is disruptive to the class and is disrespectful of other students’ learning. Class time is short and we need as much uninterrupted time as possible to get through course materials. All procedures regarding absence and tardiness will follow the Student Handbook.

Technology

Once class begins, students are expected to put away all electronic devices including (but not limited to): headphones, cell phones, laptops, tablets, etc. If a student is found to be using these items during class, they will first be asked to put them away. Should the items not be put away, students will be asked to turn them over. If the problem persists, a parent will be contacted regarding the matter, the student will be referred to the office, and disciplinary measures will be taken by administration.

Honesty & Integrity

My classroom will adhere to a strict policy regarding dishonesty, including plagiarism and cheating violations. Should a student be caught plagiarizing or cheating in any capacity, they will be referred to the office and disciplinary action will be taken by administration. Students are expected to act with honesty and integrity at all times.

Diversity, Inclusion, & Accessibility

It is my goal to ensure that every student feels comfortable and safe in my classroom. We will be taking part in regular class debates and discussions where I will expect that every student respects one another to the highest degree. This will help students learn to speak their perspective while maintaining decorum and introducing them to a diverse array of standpoints, perspectives, opinions, etc. At no point should a student feel like they are being excluded or isolated in my classroom. Should a student be found to be purposefully excluding, isolating, or bullying another student, prompt disciplinary measures will be taken alongside the administrative staff. I will also do my best to ensure that all course materials meet a high degree of accessibility. Should these not meet your standards or needs, please let me know and the proper changes will be made.

Accommodations

I will ensure that all accommodations are met alongside the proper Greenbrier staff. Should you need any academic accommodations, please promptly let myself and the proper faculty and staff know so that we can meet those accommodations.

Late Work

I expect all students to turn in their work on time unless they have spoken to me before the due date to make alternative arrangements. Should a student need an extension on a deadline, I will do the best I can to work with them on arranging one as long as it is appropriate and necessary.
