Welcome to PreK!
We are off to a wonderful start in Pre-K! The beginning of the school year is always a difficult transition for young children. The students are adjusting to our daily routine and seem to be finding their personal comfort zones.
We are currently working on color recognition, recognizing our names in print, sorting based on color, and the numbers 0-5. As a class, we are discussing recognizing the front and back cover of each book read aloud.
Do not become concerned when your child does not bring home a lot of paper and pencil activities. Pre-K is based on hands-on learning. Through hands-on learning we are promoting long-term critical thinking skills. Your child will learn through observation, experiments, personal interactions, and by being an active learner in the classroom.
Please send in a family photo for our classroom board. The students enjoy sharing personal family photos with one another. We will return each photo in May.
Send in a snack each day for your child. We would love to have a few parents donate extra snacks to the classroom. We know that life gets hectic and sometimes we simply forget to pack everything.
Our class participates in PE on Wednesday of each week. Please send your child to school with appropriate shoes for running, jumping, and physical activities.
