Hi! My name is Ms. Desmarais, and I’m so excited to be joining the Grovetown High School family as a mathematics teacher. While this is my first year at Grovetown, I’ve been teaching for five years in a few different states, including Connecticut and South Carolina. Most recently, I taught and coached at Marietta High School in Georgia before making the move here. I played soccer and received a BS in Special & Elementary Education and BA in Mathematics from Southern CT State University. I have a unique professional Masters degree from CU Boulder called Masters of the Environment and I studied sustainability planning & management.
I specialize in Geometry and Algebra 1, and I’m passionate about helping students not only build confidence in math but also develop life skills they can carry with them into college, careers, and beyond.
I enjoy being outside and being active! I particularly love the game of soccer and I am excited to be working with the JV girls soccer team this year. I am a frequent gym goer and adventure athlete. I spent four years living in Colorado and took up all the mountain sports I could. I am hoping to compete in my first adventure race here in Georgia this September.
While my last name is difficult to get right, pronounced "Day-mar-ay," I’m getting married this June and will have a new surname next year! I will proudly become a stepmom to two amazing kids. We currently have two rambunctious dogs, Shadow and Shiva.
Despite many years of traveling, I am ready to set roots here in Georgia and at Grovetown HS. I am excited about gardening and homesteading and I hope to have chickens and goats soon!
