Welcome to my Lakeside Middle Web Page! This year will be my 23rd year teaching with eight of those at Lakeside Middle as a Learning Specialist and previous years at River Ridge Elementary teaching kindergarten through second grade. In the beginning of my teaching career, I taught high school in Monticello, Georgia and then transferred to Washington Park Elementary with six years at each school. My husband and I have been married twenty-eight years and have two wonderful sons, Logan and Tanner. Logan graduated from Lakeside High School in 2020 and graduated in May 2021 from Georgia Military College. Tanner graduated from LHS in 2022 with two years of dual enrollment at Augusta University. We enjoy travelling to the Caribbean, snorkeling, scuba diving, and spending time in our saltwater pool. My favorite animals are dolphins with a close second being dogs. Also, I enjoy painting, swimming, researching, listening to music, and teaching. A fun fact is my husband, Michael, Logan, and Tanner are scuba dive certified, and have had wonderful excursions exploring underwater coves/deep water complete with sharks! We have two dogs, Sadie and Coco, and both are spoiled rotten.
My education consists of a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master's in Interrelated Education. My experience involves expertise in teaching reading, writing, and math as well as providing interventions, supports, and strategies both in the general education and resource settings. My goal is for every student be provided the tools to be successful in learning, demonstrating growth, pursuing dreams, and aspirations. My philosophy is every student is capable of achieving high performance when challenged and encouraged. As a 7th grade ELA teacher, I will be providing instruction of the Georgia Common Core ELA Standards for 2024-25.
