Columbia Middle School
6th Grade Earth Science Department
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Columbia Middle School! We hope that you had an enjoyable summer and are now “gearing up” to tackle a new school year. The information below will help everyone to prepare for the upcoming academic year. More information will be sent home during the first week of school.
If you have not had a child in middle school before, you will be in for a few surprises. This is a transitional time between elementary and high school academically as well as socially and emotionally. In 6th grade, students are expected to take responsibility for their actions, to act in a more mature manner, and to take an active part in their learning. With support from both parents and teachers, students will be able to accomplish this task.
6th Grade Earth Science Units:
Inside the Earth Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils
Energy Weathering and Erosion
Water in Earth’s Processes Weather and Climate
Earth, Sun, and Moon Universe and Solar System
Open communication and keeping each other informed about home and school life, is essential. By working together, we can provide an environment that is conducive to growth and learning. I encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns before they become problems.
I am looking forward to an exciting year and working with you and your child!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Moelter
