"The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Welcome to GTHS and the 2025-2026 school year!
I share your excitement as we begin a new school year and our journey through U.S. History and AP World History.
Below are five things that may help learners improve their learning:
Complete the assigned, and recommended, work and readings.
Be attentive in class.
Participate in class discussions and ask questions.
Study/review the day's content material when you get home from school.
Attend tutoring.
Personal electronic devices, grading, classroom management procedures, tutoring, and reassessment information are listed in the syllabus, which is a page within the subject tabs at the top of the screen. The subject tab pages are updated aperiodically throughout the school year.
Please note - Following the enactment of Georgia's Distraction-Free Education Act, students are not permitted to use or display their personal electronic devices during the school day. All devices must be stored in a backpack or locker and must not be carried on a student's person. Please refer to the district's June 12, 2025 letter for more information.
Quiz and test dates are located on the assessment calendar page, which will be updated as we begin/end each unit. I usually update U.S. History grades in Parent Portal/Infinite Campus within 24 hours of the assessment date. I usually update AP World History grades in Parent Portal/Infinite Campus within 72 hours of the assessment date.
PowerPoint slides discussed in class will be posted in Google Classroom. Slides will be posted within two school days from when they are discussed in class. For AP World History class, AMSO passages are posted in Google Classroom.
I communicate with parents and students (outside of class time) via e-mail, raymond.epps@ccboe.net, and parents via phone calls. Parents, please ensure your phone accepts calls from blocked numbers as I will call parents from my cell phone, whose number will be blocked. I do not use Remind or a newsletter to communicate with students or parents.
My class schedule:
1st Period - U.S. History
2nd Period - U.S. History
3rd Period - AP World History
4th Period - Planning
5th Period - AP World History
6th Period - U.S. History
7th Period - U.S. History
