Hello! I am so excited to begin my 3rd year of teaching! My first year I taught 5th grade ELA (reading) and Social Studies, and last year I taught 4th grade Math. I'm thrilled to teach 5th grade ELA and Social Studies again this year!
My journey to become a teacher is different than most - I decided to become a teacher a little later in my life. When I graduated high school in 1994, I joined the Army. I was a Korean linguist while in the Army and lived all over the United States and in South Korea. It was when I was in the Army and leading Soldiers that I discovered my love for teaching.
I have worked as a project assistant, an administrative and supply assistant as a civilian for the Department of Defense, and an executive assistant. It was during all those years that I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences (with a concentration in history and psychology studies). I also taught taekwondo on and off throughout all those years. I have a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, and a ESOL endorsement. I also worked as a substitute teacher while completing my Master's degree. This year I will take classes for a Gifted endorsement.
My husband, Jeremiah, and I have been married for 14 years and we have a blended family with 4 children. The three oldest are all over 21 years old. Our youngest son is in 8th grade at Evans Middle School this year. We also have a 15 year old chihuahua, Sheldon Lee Cooper.

I prefer email contact.
I only use Remind for quick reminders, things like when school photo orders are due or if students are bringing home progress reports or report cards.
Please note, however, that with any contact during the day I will not be able to get back to you right away. If there is an emergency, please contact the front office. ALL transportation changes must also be emailed or called in to the front office.

This is a picture of me, my husband, and our son, Brandon at Disney World Hollywood Studios in June 2023. We were fortunate to be able to go on this trip with family.
A very old picture of my whole family. This was taken in 2015! My bonus sons John Michael and Jeremy were with us for Spring Break that year. My daughter, Brittany, graduated from Grovetown High School in 2015.
This is me and my older brother after I earned my 1st degree black belt in taekwondo.
One of my favorite pictures of Sheldon.
