I am Kate Adcox, and I teach 4th grade at Greenbrier Elementary School. I am very excited to meet new students and parents this year! I have been teaching for 16 years, with all of my teaching experience in 4th and 5th grade. I love teaching 4th grade because I really understand what the students need to know in order to be successful next year.
I grew up in Evans, and graduated from Greenbrier High School. After high school, I attended the University of Georgia where I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. I quickly realized that my heart was leading me toward teaching, so I enrolled in the MAT program at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta to complete the teaching requirements and obtain my Masters degree. My husband, Kent, and I moved back "home" to Evans in 2009, and I began my teaching career! We have two children, Layne (13) and Grayson (10). We love living in the Riverwood and being a part of this community. I am thrilled to be teaching at our home school and excited to watch my kids grow up in the Greenbrier schools as well.
I truly LOVE teaching upper elementary school students. I believe that all students deserve an opportunity to stretch their minds and see the world in new ways. I try to provide situations where my students can see the real-world applicability to our curriculum and standards. I encourage students to read and explore their own ideas in order to make those real-world connections. I am always available to talk to parents and students, so feel free to contact me at any time!
